Reagan Burke ’20 has always been fascinated with the weather. Growing up in Maryland, experiencing all types of weather fueled her interest, which propelled her into a career as a broadcast meteorologist at KLST/KSAN in San Angelo, Texas.

Reagan’s typical day is shaped by changing weather patterns, which can shift from calm to fast-paced in an instant. Her favorite part of the job is building forecasts, “not only because it lets me get into the science aspect that I love, but it is what builds trust between the Concho Valley and me,” she shares. During her time at the station, she has covered multiple tornadoes, severe storms with hail and wind, winter storms, and the recent historic July 4th flooding. “Being a meteorologist is a huge responsibility that I do not and cannot take lightly. When there is severe weather going on, it is my duty to convey accurate and reliable information to my viewers.”

Beyond daily forecasts, she enjoys sharing her passion for meteorology with elementary, middle, and high school students. “Only about 25% of all broadcast meteorologists are female, and only 9% of chief meteorologists are women, so I take a large amount of pride in my work and can hopefully inspire other young girls to pursue a career in meteorology or STEM.”

Reagan credits her Maryvale education with preparing her for college by taking advantage of all the AP classes offered. After graduating from Maryvale in 2020, she attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where she graduated cum laude from one of the top meteorology programs in the country. The school's rich traditions reminded her so much of Maryvale!

“My memories of Maryvale started at Day 0 when I received my red acceptance envelope in the mail. It was one of the best and proudest moments of my life,” she shares. “I loved my time at Maryvale and cherish all the memories at Sophomore Pin, Junior Ring, and all our Gym Meets. The friends I made there, I’m still friends with today and consider them to be my sisters.”

Most recently, Reagan was honored as the KLST/KSAN employee of the month for December 2025, a testament to her dedication and passion for both her work and her community.
