“Work hard, care harder” is one of the first quotes that our Introduction to Business heard on Monday’s field trip at Fidelity Building Services Group for the Future Females of Fidelity Forum.

Fidelity Building Services Group is a local company headquartered in Hunt Valley. They are one of the nation’s leading providers of HVAC/Mechanical Services, Building Automation, Emergency Power, and Energy Solutions serving the Commercial/Industrial, Mission-Critical, Government, Education, and Healthcare markets.

Students heard from several leaders in the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition department, alongside C-Suite officers that spoke on topics such as “knowing how to trust yourself," life experiences of triumph and failure, and also spent time in group workshops discovering their own “life kit," by building tools in their tool boxes to help them in tough situations. They even learned how to put together a 30-second pitch presentation and practiced among their peers.

With a goal of fostering collaborative educational conversation, there was no way to get out of answering questions. However, they also learned the power of incentive as many of the students were given prizes for volunteering!

Later, when asked what resonated most with students, answers ranged from “betting on yourself” to “choosing your hard” and “having discipline." A favorite lesson was “we don’t have to have it all figured out right now.” Thankfully, it helps to have resources like Fidelity to guide us along the way.
