Back-to-back trials for the Maryvale Mock Trial team! On Monday, January 27, they defeated Woodlawn!

The team consisted of attorneys Erin Dobbs, Vienne Longway, and Rory Wyatt, as well as witnesses Finley Permison, Annie Dingle, and Bailey Parton. The team bailiff was Lauren Thomas. Moderator John Levasseur said, "The team’s preparation was visible as everyone displayed poise and confidence!" He added, "The judge made comments to the court after the trial and praised each of our team members for their performance. He was particularly impressed with Bailey Parton’s job as one of the defense witnesses and Rory Wyatt’s closing argument."

On Tuesday, January 28, they had a tight match against Pikesville. They tied and ended 120-119 after a tie-breaker.

The team consisted of attorneys Sophia Ainslee, Grace Standish, and Jessica Navarro, as well as witnesses Greta Baier, Ruby Piet, and Emma Pixler. Our team bailiff was Alejandra Molina Hernandez. Mr. Levasseur said, "Everyone had a great performance, and their hard work and practice was evident."

The team's first trial was a great learning experience!

Honorable Judith Ensor spent a half hour after the match giving both teams advice about their strengths and the areas where improvement is needed. Judge Ensor referred to Grace Standish as a “Venus fly trap” because of the way she so tenaciously questioned her witnesses. Emma Pixler’s performance was rated as “worthy of an Academy Award.” Sophie Ainslee, who co-captains our team along with Erin Dobbs, was solid in her role as lead prosecutor.
