First Financial Credit Union presented Adulting 101 to the Class of 2026.

The juniors traveled through eight sections to learn how to budget during adulthood with a job and salary assigned to them. Categories included child care, cable/ internet, housing, entertainment, groceries, etc. During this exercise, they had to see if they could live within their net income.

"It's important for our students as women to know how to plan for their future financial security,"

—Ms. Simmons.

She said every student should have left the day "with an understanding and realistic knowledge of what it costs to run a household."

This is Maryvale's third year in the financial literacy program for sophomores, but the first for Adulting 101. The financial literacy program helps sophomores understand personal finances from banking, credit cards, paychecks, budgets, and smart goals.
