A handful of Maryvale students were able to vote in the election on November 5, 2024. We caught up with a few of them!
Ashelyn M. '25 was a little nervous for her first time voting since she didn't know exactly what to do or where to go, but she said everyone at her polling location was super welcoming, and filling out the ballot was very easy.
"I think it's very important to vote because, as a new adult, I'm excited to take the first step into adulthood and be able to take my future into my own hands."
"My first voting experience was very exciting. I was excited to be able to stand up for my country and stand up for what I believe," expressed Fabiana C. '25. She said everyone at her polling location cheered for her since it was her first time voting. She added, "I chose to vote because I want to stand up for my beliefs, and I want to try to save this country. I believe it's our duty as citizens of the United States to vote for who we believe in."
Maura R. '25 voted with her mom and theology teacher, Ms. Rigley. She said they waited for 2.5 hours to vote, which was a very "eye-opening experience." She added that it was very encouraging to witness all of the people who came out to vote.
"It's my responsibility as an American citizen and I want my voice to be heard!"
