Campus Ministry

1804 Peer Ministers with Campus Minister Kristin DeVan.

Responding to the call of ministry in Catholic education, Campus Ministry serves as an integral part of the community and spiritual life at Maryvale.

In alignment with the school’s mission, “to provide an environment in which each student can reach her academic, spiritual, physical and civic potential in a loving, supportive and diverse community” and the charism of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Campus Ministry strives to uphold the teachings of St. Julie Billiart by, “teaching young women what they need to know for life.”

As students approach their senior year, they are invited to enroll in our 1804: Peer Ministry and Leadership course, a direct nod to the year in which the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur was founded. Through this class, the girls are given the space to grow deeper in their faith and further mold their leadership skills while having a direct role in Campus Ministry. Under the supervision of our campus minister, Mrs. DeVan, students in the 1804 course lead school liturgies, organize retreats for every grade level and provide spiritual support and guidance for their fellow Maryvale sisters.

The presence of Campus Ministry supports, challenges and encourages each student to build upon her personal relationship with God, others and herself. Students are empowered to respond to God’s calling to live in a deeper awareness to all they are called to be and to become.
