Community Service

Maryvale has a strong tradition of reaching out to those in need in our society. The following groups and organizations offer opportunities for participation as part of the service and outreach program.

My Sister’s Circle

My Sister’s Circle is a comprehensive, relationship-based program designed to mentor girls from disadvantaged Baltimore neighborhood’s during their transition to middle school. Throughout the year, Maryvale students will have the opportunity to interact with these young girls as they travel to our campus to engage in activities.

PACT (Promoting Active Community Testament)

PACT is a coalition of four Baltimore area, Catholic schools(Maryvale, Calvert Hall, Seton Keough and Mount Saint Joseph) which provides students an opportunity to reach out to the greater community while creating fellowship among the schools. Throughout the year PACT will sponsor four large group service projects.

Habitat for Humanity

A non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization, Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. This activity enables our students to not only raise awareness for affordable housing and funds for building homes, but also to engage in the actual building process. Each year, a co-ed football game between Maryvale, Calvert Hall, Notre Dame Prep and Loyola raises money and awareness for Habitat for Humanity.

Fuel Fund of Maryland

The Fuel Fund supplements the resources of those experiencing hardships with essential home energy needs year round. In conjunction with the Fuel Fund, Maryvale students host an Energy Awareness Week to educate their peers about energy conservation and the need to support people in the Baltimore area who struggle with the high cost of fuel.

Maryvale's Community Christian Service Requirement calls each student to go beyond her comfort zone to cultivate an awareness of societal needs and to develop relationships with individuals in our society with whom they would not otherwise interact in daily life.
