Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
I love Jodi Picoult’s books and many have been my favorite. I really did not want to read Nineteen Minutes because it is about a school shooting. It has really moved me, so much so, that I think it should be required reading for teenagers! It is more about the way young people treat one another and not so much about the shooting itself.
STUDENT BOOK REVIEWS
Middle School Student Review

Reviewer: Haley Gilmore Grade: 7
Title: The Outsiders
Author: S.E. Hinton
Fiction Book
Summary: The Outsiders is a book about two social groups, the Socs and the greasers. There were many fights between the Socs and the greasers in this book, and the Socs won mostly all of them. There was a big rumble at the end. Read the book to see who wins the rumble and the excitement in between.
I would recommend this book to: A person who has to finish a book because it is hard to put down.
High School Student Review

Reviewer: Kelly Kane Grade: 10
Title: The Rag and Bone Shop
Author: Robert Cormier
Fiction Book
Summary: A psychological thriller, this tells of the preparation, enacting, and consequences of an interrogation, as a ruthless failing interrogator tries to find out if a twelve-year-old boy killed his only friend.
I would recommend this book to: Anyone who likes a good scare and with an hour to spare – it’s a very quick and excellent read.
