Academic Dean

Maryvale Preparatory School, a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for young women in grades six through 12, is seeking a full-time Academic Dean to begin in July 2017. The Academic Dean should have excellent managerial and organizational skills, first-rate communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the Middle and Upper School divisions. The person in this role will work closely with the Head of School and Division Heads on curricular development and is a key member of the administrative team. This is an 11-month position and will require some evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing overall academic programs, including curriculum content, delivery and instructional practices for both divisions 

  • Chairing the Academic Board Committee, which includes the Division Heads and the Academic Department Chairs 

  • Maintaining and updating all academic policies and curricular infrastructure materials

  • Working with Division Heads to create the master schedule, organize the academic course registration process, review schedules and ensure requirements are met 

  • Partnering with Division Heads to coach and review faculty to ensure excellence in teaching and engagement in learning 

  • Promoting a culture of growth by structuring and leading effective system of professional development 

  • Overseeing orientation for all new faculty 

  • Overseeing the Advanced Placement Program 

  • Analyzing data to guide curriculum planning 

  • Teaching in one or more divisions, as needed 

  • Assisting with Academic Advising 

  • Overseeing accreditation and strategic planning-related processes
     
  • Supporting and working in close partnership with the Division Heads, Head of School and other school leaders 
     
  • Representing Maryvale as an ambassador to parents and the wider community

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Master’s Degree in Education (Curriculum and Instruction); MSDE certification preferred
  • Experience as a teacher or administrator in an independent school setting preferred 
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, students and parents
     
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail

Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Maryvale Preparatory School, a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for young women in grades six through 12, is seeking a full-time Mathematics faculty member for the 2017-2018 school year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach Middle School levels of mathematics including Pre-algebra, Algebra I and Geometry 
  • Serve as an advisor in the student Advisory Program
  • Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics required; Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred
  • Experience teaching in an independent school setting preferred

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach Middle School and Upper School Social Studies courses; Teaching experience of AP and Honors courses is preferred. 
  • Serve as an advisor in the student Advisory Program
  • Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in History/Social Studies required; Master’s Degree preferred; MSDE certification preferred
  • Experience teaching in an independent school setting preferred 
     
  • Departmental leadership experience is preferred 
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with administration, faculty and parents
