Tuition, Fees and Financial Assistance

Tuition and Fees

Maryvale's 2007-2008 tuition is $13,600 for all grades. An additional annual activity fee and technology fee are included on the initial tuition bill. Books and uniforms vary in cost.

Scholarships

Parents may apply for need-based, merit scholarships which are awarded to incoming sixth and ninth grade students based on a broad criteria which includes outstanding scholastic performance; demonstrated financial need; teacher recommendations; personal interview and admissions testing. Scholarship/ financial assistance packets may be obtained through the Admissions Office. To receive scholarship consideration, parents must closely adhere to all deadlines. Scholarships are renewed annually as long as the recipient maintains a B average and upholds the values and morals of a Maryvale student.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance enables Maryvale to enroll qualified students who may not otherwise have access to a Catholic school education. We are committed to providing access to deserving students and supporting diversity in our student population. To this end, we offer financial assistance to qualified families, within the constraints of limited funds. We wish to make a Maryvale education possible for every student who is offered admission.

Decisions about financial assistance and admission are made separately. After an applicant is recommended for admission, if her parents have completed the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS), her family's need is reviewed by the Financial Assistance Committee. Every effort is made to help families afford the cost of a Maryvale education though we expect parents to give their daughter's education a very high priority in their financial planning.

The ultimate responsibility for financing education rests with the parents or guardians. Most families will adjust their spending priorities, maximize both parents' earnings and carefully manage their assets to make it possible. Beyond that financial commitment, financial assistance is awarded annually to students in grades 6-12 on the basis of demonstrated financial need. The Financial Assistance Committee considers the financial resources of both natural parents, if living, before making an award.

In the cases of divorce or separated parents or parents who have never married, both natural parents are required to complete financial assistance forms. Both parents file the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) . If either natural parent remarries, Maryvale will consider the resources of the stepparent, bearing in mind the obligations to his/her natural children.

Parents' Financial Statement (PFS)

To be considered for financial assistance, complete a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) available online at https://sss.ets.org or requested from the Admissions Office. A copy of the completed form (including any attachments) should be provided to the Admissions Office. The PFS must be completed by January 4, 2008. Forms completed after January 4 may not be processed in time for consideration, especially if SSS returns the forms to you because of errors/omissions or the need for additional clarification.

To assist parents in understanding the financial assistance process and how to complete the Paretns’ Financial Statement, an information session will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2007, at 9:00 am in the Rodriguez Center. The informal session is open to prospective parents who wish information specifically about Maryvale’s program. If you plan to attend the information session, please contact the Admissions Office at 410-560-3243 or by email to grahamm@maryvale.com. Registration is not required for attendance, but will enable us to have sufficient seating.

Income Tax Forms

Parents/guardians must submit a copy of their 2007 Federal Form 1040, even if estimated, to the Admissions Office by January 4, 2008. If an estimated form is not available by January 4, please submit a copy of your 2006 forms. In all cases, families are required to submit copies of 2007 Federal Income Tax Form 1040, including attachments, to the Admissions Office by April 15, 2008. Failing to comply with this request may jeopardize your award.

Scholarship/Financial Assistance Notification

Decisions on awards for scholarship and financial aid will be included in the decision letters mailed on February 19, 2008 (Grade 9 applicants) or February 29, 2008 (all other grades).

In the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we are committed to providing access to education for deserving students, regardless of their family’s ability to meet tuition. We support the socio-economic diversity that this program provides for our students and welcome the gifts these girls bring to our community.”
