What are the school hours?

A

Homeroom for all grades begins at 7:55 a.m. Every Thursday morning, all grades come together in the gym for Community Homeroom when announcements pertaining to the school at large are shared with students, faculty and staff. Community Homeroom is also a time to pray together, celebrate special achievements, give recognition or share proud moments. It is the one time each week when we come together as the Maryvale community.

The school day concludes at 3 p.m. Many students remain after the end of classes for co-curricular activities, to cheer at athletic events, study with classmates or wait for their ride home.

What are the uniform requirements?

A

Maryvale students wear a traditional uniform which includes a white uniform polo shirt, gray plaid kilt, red blazer, black shoes and white socks. Optional uniform items include a black Maryvale sweater, white turtleneck and black tights or black leggings. Uniform items may be purchased from Dennis Uniform, 1110-C North Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD 21228 (local 410-869-4682; national customer service number is 800-854-6951) or you may visit their website at www.dennisuniform.com. Gym uniform shorts and shirts are available directly from The Lion’s Den, Maryvale's school store.

What college counseling does Maryvale offer through Upper School?

A

College preparation is an ongoing process throughout a student’s four years of Upper School. The Director of Counseling works closely with the administration, faculty and parents to cooperatively assist students with academic development, decision making, and career preparation. What co-curricular activities are available?

A

Maryvale offers a variety of clubs, organizations and activities where students can learn and lead. Students may participate in athletics, music and drama, community service, scholastic competition, book club, newspaper and yearbook, clubs and social events.

Is technology a focus in Maryvale’s curriculum?

A
